Stuff Cora Says

We were talking about babies, and how it would be nice if my mom had another one. Cora said, "Maybe Aubrey will get pregnant. That would be disappointing... but also good!"

"I feel bad for all those people whose heads are too small for their bodies." The funny thing about this one is that she was dead serious.

Harry Potter Happy Day

I love Harry Potter. The end.

The Harry Potter premier inspired me. For Halloween I am going to be a Ravenclaw. Tie, sweater, skirt, wand- the whole shabang. I'll also get a scarf... just for fun though. The tie plus scarf would be overkill.

Anyways, I was planning this all in my head, and then I thought wait... I can't buy all this stuff for just one day. I'm a little late for all the premiers, Halloween is once a year, and (even though I was Hermione for third, fourth, and fifth grade Halloween) I don't want to be obligated to be a Ravenclaw every Halloween for the rest of my life. Plus, I could get fat or pregnant and not even be able to wear it! It was way too much for a one time thing, especially since the best Halloween party I'd go to is the Howl.

Then I had a brilliant idea. I would have a day every month that I would dress up! It's just a skirt, tie, and sweater- that's a subtle enough costume to just wear without getting too many weird looks. Also just wearing that and going into Old Main would be the most magical thing ever. This was how Harry Potter Happy Day was born. I realize that isn't catchy or clever- I'm still working on the name. I tried to come up with some alliteration that sounded good with a day of the month, but eleven hours of brainstorming at Hastings didn't result in anything clever. For now it will be known as Harry Potter Happy Day (because it will make me happy and it involves Harry Potter's world), and the tentative date is the eighteenth of every month (the day of my birthday), but that is all subject to change depending on a clever name I (or anyone who wants to help me out) might think of. I also realize a day of the week would be way easier to work with, but once a week seems a little excessive. I want to keep this fun and an occasion.

I've been wand shopping and tie shopping and scarf shopping and I am just very excited for this. I'm having trouble finding a sweater and skirt- if anyone knows of places with plain skirts and v-neck sweaters the help would be very much appreciated.

I also might make a Harry Potter treat on this day every month.

Pictures/ an actually clever name/ details to come.

Harry Potter Partay

Here are all the treats I made for Harry Potter, except the Pumpkin Pasties (very good) and Pumpkin Juice(gross)... I forgot all about documenting those...

Hedwig Cookies (these were my favorite):

The lovely centerpiece, courtesy of Gretchen. Complete with Aragog and invisibility cloak- can you spot Harry?

"Licorice Wands"- these were originally going to be the handles of the cauldron cakes but that didn't work out. We improvised:

Cauldron Cakes (cupcakes- although from now on I think I will call cupcakes cauldron cakes):

Witch cookies:

Ton-Tongue Toffee (it wasn't a big hit):

Success!

Finally! My first plant to ripen were my cherry tomatoes, and I was very exited:

My flowers are also doing excellent:

Bieber Fever

Cora loves Justin Bieber.
He's not so bad.

Justin Bieber: Never Say Never

This is an excellent title for this movie. I would have never watched it and I never thought I would like it. However my sister Cora convinced me that I should (she owns it and watches it twice a week) so we did, and ironically I liked it a lot.

The movie is filmed documentary style. There are interviews with various members of his staff, his mom, his friends, his agent, Usher, Snoop Dog (gross), and his fans. The fan interviews are HILARIOUS. Here is a quote from one preteen girl: "I love Justin Bieber. We will be husband and wife." The movie also features plenty of backstage and concert footage.

He has an interesting and pretty amazing story; I recommend this movie. I am not a fanatic and would not watch it twice a week, but I did enjoy it and like Justin Bieber a lot more now because of it.

Wimpy Wimpy Wimpy

I had to get blood drawn yesterday. I am a wimp. There are only two things that saved me from being completely irrational and hysterical. First, I got a purple bandage. Second, the man who drew my blood talked to me about Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings and was reading Wheel of Time.

Up until this point I was seriously considering giving plasma. Nothing wrong with an extra thirty dollars a week, right? Wrong. About five seconds before the needle plunged into my skin I realized no amount of money was worth this trauma on a weekly basis.

I'll stick to minimum wage.

Antoine "Dog"son

Ha! Horrible pun. But I love this picture:

If you missed this whole thing you probably don't have a lot of teenage friends. I think it's hilarious. Here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzNhaLUT520

Ridiculous Book Feature

The cover art isn't great and the title is ridiculous.
Dear Vampire Trend,
You were never good, and now you're old. I am sick of you.

I Love This Scripture.

John 16:33

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Good One

Here is a conversation I had with an old (very old- white hair old) man today at work.

Elderly Genuis: So are you going to school up here?

Me: Yea, I start again in the fall.

Elderly Genius: What's your major?

Me: I'm undeclared right now. I'm not sure.

Elderly Genius: You could always major in modeling.

Me: Umm, I'm pretty sure that's not a major.

Elderly Genius: Well you have the looks for it.

Me: .... Thanks.

Then I left and shelved audiobooks and felt weird inside.

I love the Fourth of July.

It was technically the Third of July- our festivities were a day early, but we had the same type of celebration.

We had lots of fun, and naturally I took way too many pictures.
